The battle in the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has taken a new turn.
The ad hoc committee which had resigned from the executive committee of TFPC , has been declared illegal by the Madras High Court.
The ad hoc committee led by producer Ibrahim Rowther was off late calling the shots and had even called for fresh elections to TFPC. The official members led by president SA Chandrasekhar were on the back foot .
The court order passed by Justice R Subbiah on suits filed by SA Chandrasekhar and treasurer Kalaipuli Thanu on Wednesday said: "The formation of the ad hoc committee is in violation to the provisions of the Societies Registration Act." The court also declared the annual meet held by ad hoc committee on April 15 as illegal.
The court order is seen as a major victory for the official elected members of TFPC, and is sure to strengthen the hands of its president SA Chandrasekhar.
