It looks like the most powerful organization in Kollywood, Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), has split in two.
An ad-hoc committee headed by Ibrahim Rowther called for a general council meet at a hotel in 100 feet road near Vadapalani on Sunday.
As a result of the meeting, where a majority of TFPC members were present, SA Chandrasekhar the elected president and his close supporters Kalaipuli Thanu and PL Thenappan were suspended for six months.
The ad-hoc committee at a meeting called by Tamil Nadu labor minister, said that SAC without consulting others had given in to the demands of FEFSI. The TFPC had tamely caved in to government and FEFSI demands, which incensed other members., the root cause of the present split.
