Latest Update- Now the latest is that Thalaivaa team plans to hold a fast on Aug 16 and 17 in Chennai. The producer and others had gone to city police commissioner’s office seeking permission, to hold the fast. The fast against non-release of the film in Tamil Nadu will be led by Vijay.
A week after its worldwide release, Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Thalaivaa is yet to be released in Tamil Nadu. Several issues like a bomb threat, entertainment tax waiver issue and alleged political content derailed its release in Tamil Nadu.
The social networking sites were full of Vijay’s emotional video asking for help. The pirated DVD’s and torrents of the film have flooded the local market. On Independence Day the producer of Thalaivaa, Chandraprakash Jain and director Vijay held a press meet.
It was a very emotional press meet . Chandraprakash Jain said : “ I will be brought to the streets with my family if the film does not release this weekend.”
The film was believed to have been made on a budget of Rs 60 Crore, and it’s from Tamil Nadu the film has to recover its major cost.
Both Chandraprakash Jain and director Vijay stressed that they were waiting anxiously for an appointment with the CM.
Said Jain in tears : "We have sought an appointment with the chief minister Jayalalithaa. We are waiting to meet her and discuss the issue in detail. I have already incurred huge loss due to the delay. A further delayed means heavy losses.”
