Gautham Vasudev Menon believes in thinking different and all his audio functions have always been different in style, concept and execution.
His audio functions have never been run-of-the mill or predictable, as he comes out with out-of-box ideas. And the music launch of his Photon Kathaas Thanga Meengal on Tuesday morning (April 30) at Sathyam Cinemas was unique in all aspects and was made in an entertaining format.
It was entirely a visual treat and each song was presented in a very innovative manner. He had almost all leading directors like Lingusamy, Prabhu Solomon, Vetrimaran, Samuthirakani, Chimbudevan , Cheran, Balu Mahendra chatting with Gautham in a candid manner about the film and the songs.
Yuvan Shankar Raja, cameraman Arbhindusaaraa , art director Rajeev and the cast were also shown in conversion with Gautham. He also had Anirudh, Karthik , Alphonse, the two girls in the film sing an unplugged version of all the songs which made it so natural and interesting. Sony Music is marketing Thanga Meengal audio.
All the songs tuned by Yuvan and written by Na Muthukumar is soothing and melodious. The visuals were also awesome with the “Ananda...” number shot in windy hills full of mist showing the bond between a father and daughter being the highlight. The second song showing the separation and pain is very touching while the school song is fun and realistic.
It was all there on the big screen and there was never a dull moment. On the whole, the effort put in by Photon Kathaas team and director Ram has definitely paid off as it was a very slick function which brought out the essence of the film and its songs.
