The fight over who will do the role of Kunjali Marakkar, the hero from Kerala history, has been going on for a while in Mollywood.
It was Mammootty who announced the project first with Amal Neerad as the director. Later Santosh Sivan became the director and Shaji Nadeshan decided to turn producer.
Sometime later, director Priyadarshan announced another project based on the life of the same historical figure, but with Mohanlal as the hero.
When the battle went on, Priyadarshan backed out of the race saying that he will give six months’ time for the Mammootty project and if it doesn’t begin by then he will start his Mohanlal project.
The project was announced by Priyadarshan on April 28, titled Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham, with Mohanlal as the hero. The film is estimated to have a 100 crore budget with Antony Perumbavoor, Dr. C J Roy and Santhosh T Kuruvilla as the producers.
But now the story has taken an interesting turn, just like it happens in on-screen suspense thrillers.
Producer Shaji Nadeshan has announced now that he is also going ahead with his project, which has been titled Kunjali Marakkar IV, with Mammootty as the hero and Santosh Sivan as the director.
So who will do the role in the end? Will it be Mammootty or Mohanlal, who is going to play Kunjali Marakkar? Or are we going to see two versions of the same film, like it happened with Bhagat Singh’s biopic in Bollywood?
Well, we are not taking any guesses but will keep you updated for sure.
