Sometime back, ad filmmaker V A Shrikumar Menon announced a 1000 crore magnum opus based on legendary Malayalam author M T Vasudevan Nair’s novel, Randamoozham. The project was to be produced by businessman B R Shetty and was titled Mahabharatha.

Shrikumar Menon directed his debut movie Odiyan after that announcement and he said, Randamoozham will follow. Both the films were planned with Mohanlal as the hero.

Now as Odiyan is all set to reach the theatres, M T Vasudevan Nair has filed a case announcing that he is no longer interested in the Randamoozham project with Shrikumar Menon. The director is busy having peace talks with the writer, when last heard.

This controversy  has also raised questions about the future of Randamoozham. There are reports where the writer’s lawyer has been quoted saying M T wants Randamoozham to be made into a movie for sure.

Meanwhile, B R Shetty has made some comments that he is going ahead with Mahabharatha. He is rumoured to have said that it will not be based on M T’s novel but at the same time has not made it clear whether Shrikumar Menon will direct it.

As they say, the plot thickens.
