Tirupachi is a typical Vijay action mass masala that will satisfy his legion of fans. The film is set in Tirupachi village near Madurai which is famous for aruvaal. Sivagiri (Vijay) is an expert in making these weapons and he is a no-nonsense young man whose life revolves round his only sister Karpagam (?Autograph? Mallika).
Sivagiri gets her married off to a nice guy but still looks after all her needs. One day he goes to Chennai to see off a friend who is going to Dubai from the International airport. Due to certain reasons he is forced to stay in Saligramam in Chennai where he meets a girl Subha (Trisha). He likes her attitude and there are a lot of comic interludes between the two. Sivagiri does not think that a city girl will like a rustic man like him but slowly they fall in love.
But then he gets entangled with some baddies (Kota, Pasupathi, Aryan and others) that leads to a lot of problems. How Sivagiri sorts them out and emerges victorious is the story of the film. Manoj K.Jayan plays Rajaguru the City Police Commissioner and 'Autograph' Benjamin gets his first lead comedy role.
Rajalakshmi and Vinod Raj (actor Vikram's father)plays Vijay's parents and Chaya Singh does an item number. Six songs in the film are tuned by Dhina and one of them was shot in Table Mountains in South Africa. Camera is by S.Saravanan, art by M.Prabhakar, editing by V.Jayashankar and choreography is by Shivshankar, Raju Sundaram, Kalyan and Sophie.
