Tollywood pays homage to Bapu

Veteran director, cartoonist Bapu passed away on the 31st August. Originally named Sattiraju Lakshminararyana, he died at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.

His first film as director was Sakshi. He directed many classics in Telugu - Muthyalamuggu, Bhakta Kannappa, Andala Ramudu, Pelli Pusthakam, Mr Pellam and Sri Rama Rajyam.

Bapu was also awarded with Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian art and cinema.

He made life to many actors in Telugu. He also encouraged Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor at his budding stage. He directed several popular Hindi films too.

The who is who of the film industry arrived to pay homage to the departed. The funeral ceremony of the departed director will be conducted in Chennai on 2nd September.
