Karthi and Tamil cinemas top directors like Vetrimaran, Venkat Prabhu, Pandiraj and Rajesh came together at a press meet to praise Attakathi a film made by debutants.
It was a unique meet arranged by KE Gnanavelraja of Studio Green who has taken over the distribution of the film directed by Pa.Ranjith, a former associate of Venkat Prabhu. Ranjith said that all the directors present had seen the film and it was their word of mouth which has made Attakathi talked about in the industry.
Vetrimaran said : “ It is one of the most realistic and entertaining film I’ve seen based on college life among the lower middle class who takes the MTC bus to their colleges.”
Pandiraj added: “There is a slice of life humour and a love story woven together in the story with colloquial Chennai slangs and usages.” Rajesh said: “ I loved the movie for its exuberance and natural way it has depicted college life and the bus journeys.”
Venkat Prabhu who was instrumental in Gnanavelraja seeing the film at a special preview said : “ Ranjith has made a very nice movie which has love, romance laced with comedy and great songs by Santosh Narayanan. When I made Chennai-28, I visited a lot of production houses requesting them to release the film, so when I saw this film I recommended it to Gnanavel.”
Karthi said : “ I relived my college days when I saw Attakathi. I’m very happy that there are youngsters who are willing to make good movies. “ Gnanavelraja who started life as a production manager before he branched out as a producer explained that Studio Green is committed to promoting and distributing films which are meaningful and entertaining.
The trailer of the film along with two beautiful songs including a peppy Gana number were screened for the press.
The music of the film by Santhosh Narayanan is already a hit. The film has Dinesh and Nandita in the lead.
Attakathi is slated for release on August 15, for the big Independence day weekend.
