Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan’s ’96’ is running successfully in Tamil Nadu theaters. So far the film has grossed more than 30cr at the Tamil Nadu box office and holding well in the multiplexes.

Though ’96’ will be replaced by Vijay’s Sarkar from Diwali in theaters across Tamil Nadu, no one expected Sun TV to premiere the film on Nov 6, Diwali Day.

Fans of both Trisha and Vijay Sethupathi have been posting on the social media requesting Sun TV to postpone the premiere to Pongal. The talent update is that Trisha herself tweeted mentioning Sun TV to postpone the premiere.

“Its our 5th week and we still have an 80% occupancy in all theatres. We as a team feel its unfair to be premiering 96 this early. Its our request to push it to a Pongal viewing pls @SunTV Will be grateful #96thefilm #Ban96MoviePremierOnSunTv", tweeted Trisha.

It’s worth mentioning that it is the agreement between the producer of the film and the channel which leads to the telecast.
