Sri Murali is one of those performers of Sandalwood who hadnít tasted success in spite of his efforts and had just remained as a memory in the minds of the cine buffs. Ugramm has certainly got back the lost stardom of Sri Murali and reminds everybody of the calibre that Murali possesses. The action thriller has been getting extremely good response on the opening day and offers a unique screenplay. The high on action movie, Ugramm is sure to be one of the unforgettable movies of the year.
Haripriya, who comes to India to visit her motherís grave lands in trouble due to family enmity. Agastya (Sri Murali) who works as a mechanic saves Haripriya from the goons in the nick of the time and gets into the good books of the actress. Goons sent by different gangs are defeated on a repetitive mode by Murali and the audience witness lot of violence throughout the movie. It is in the second half of the movie where the past of the Agastya is revealed and what forms his past and why is he living the present which he has created for himself forms the rest of the story.
SriMuraliís electrifying performance thrills the audience and he grasps the attention automatically. He is definitely back in action and is sure to stay here for a long time if used by the right kind of film makers. Haripriya who hasnít been recognised well in Sandalwood is sure to attract the film makers, as she has given her best performance and has done justice to the role of the girl who is trapped in the retribution chronicle. Atul Kulkarni, Avinash, Jai Jagdeesh have been great in their roles and complement the movie.
Camera work by Bollywood cinematographer Ravi Varman is the highlight of the movie and gives the Hollywood movie feel. Though the songs are not as expected, the background score to the scenes are applaudable. Prashanth Neel has directed a movie with a different concept and will keep the viewers glued to their seat until the end. He is one of the yearís most promising directors and good films can be expected if the director works on such different concepts.
Verdict: A must watch
