Jayasurya may not have earned as much publicity as Priya Varrier did with a cute smile followed by a wink in a music album from a forthcoming film. But the hero underlined his eminence as a versatile actor. In Captain, Jayasurya performed with total dedication and honesty, as former Indian football captain V P Sathyan.
Jayasurya is actually on a winning streak of late with the success of Punyalan Private Limited and the blockbuster Aadu 2. Interestingly, both were sequels. In Punyalam Private Limited, Jayasurya returned as Thrissur based businessman Joy Thakkolkkaran and in the laugh riot Aadu 2, the actor was back on screen as the lovable Shaji Pappan.
It wasn’t easy for Jayasurya to play V P Sathyan, who was a brilliant footballer, who had to battle depression off the field. Jayasurya played the role in a subtle and convincing way.
Those who knew the footballer from close quarters, which includes his wife Anitha Sathyan, footballers Sharaf Ali and I M Vijayan, has stated that they could find only Sathyan in Captain and that is an example of the actor’s commitment.
Jayasurya was not having the best of times in movies last year, when these successes happened. And with Punayalan Private Limited, Aadu 2 and now Captain, he has made a mark of his own, yet again, in Mollywood.
Jayasurya is Sify star for the month of February.
