On May 1, fans flocked to the theaters to watch Kamal Haasan's  Uttama Villain but was totally disappointed as it was 'No Show'. UV failed to hit the screens due to financial issues between the producers and financiers.

On the same day Aishwarya R Dhanush's second directorial film Vai Raja Vai too was releasing. Before release nobody really gave it chance, as it was pitted against the Kamal biggie.

When fans realised that shows of Uttama Villain were cancelled, theater managers asked them if they wish to see Vai Raja Vai instead and more than half the crowd agreed as they wanted to enjoy the holiday with some good entertainment and fun. In a multiplex after you pay a heavy parking fees, it was better to watch what was offered than going back empty handed.

Luckily Vai Raja Vai seems to have entertained the masses and the film has grossed nearly 3.35 crores in Tamil Nadu on day one of its release. The film cashed in on the non-availability of UV. The numbers are huge as it is a small budget film with little known stars.

Studio Green and AGS entertainments, the distributors and producers of the film are super happy with the first day business. Added to that they managed to get Saturday morning and noon shows as UV finally made it to screens only from matinee shows in Chennai city.
