Asha Bhosle's daughter, Varsha commits suicide

The mystery surrounding the pistol that ended Varsha Bhosle's life is slowly being chipped away. Reports have it that the Belgium-made Browning pistol is the one singer Asha Bhosle lost 30 years ago.

In a statement, a teary Asha said, "I had lost my gun 30 years ago. I think it is the same gun."

Initially, it was speculated that the pistol could have been the ones licensed to Hridayanath Mangeshkar, Varsha's maternal uncle, and her younger brother Anand.

But a senior police officer clarified, "Her brother Anand has a licenced .45 pistol while Varsha's maternal uncle, Hridayanath Mangeshkar, has a .32 pistol. However, Varsha had used a Belgium-made Browning pistol, which is different from the two issued to her family members."

Now it waits to be seen if the licensee (Asha) will be charged by the police under the Arms Act for not being in possession of the firearm.

Varsha Bhosle was found by the family driver on Monday (October 8) morning. He had entered Asha's Parabhu Kunj apartment through the adjoining door from sister Lata's home, when Varsha didn't answer.

Varsha Bhosle (56) was cremated on Tuesday.
