Vijayawada: Veteran Telugu film actor Mikkilineni Radhakrishna Murthy, popularly known as Mikkilinei, died of old age here on Tuesday morning.
He was 94, and is survived by a son and two daughters. Mikkilinei was born into a farmer's family at Kolavennu in Krishna district.
He was a freedom fighter, and also one of the founders of Communist movement in Andhra Pradesh.
After attaining popularity as a stage actor through plays such as `Mabhoomi', he entered the film industry.
He mainly played character-roles and villains, and acted in box office hits such as Tenali Rama Krishna (1956), Maya Bazar (1957), Appu Chesi pappu Kudu (1957), Sitarama Kalyanam (1961), Jagadekaveer uni Kadha (1961), Gundamma Kadha (1962), Gulebhakavali kadha (1962), Paruvu Prathiksta (1963), Bandipotu (1963), Nartanasela (1963), Ramudu Bimudu (1964), Pandava Vanavasam (1965).
He also penned a few books on the Telugu film industry.
He had stopped acting in films ten years ago.
