The music release of Lingusamy’s Vettai was quite a star-studded affair. The film produced by Thirrupathi Brothers and co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures was held at the majestic Anna Centenary Auditorium on Friday night.
The function also coincided with Lingusamy’s 10th year in Tamil cinema and to honour him, a medley of all hit songs from his films was performed live on stage by John Britto group. Actors who took part were Vettai lead cast- Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul along with Jayam Ravi, Vishal, Karthi, Jiiva, Venkat Prabhu among other big wigs of the industry.
For a change, the function kick-started on time with an audio visual about UTV and their accomplishments including their future projects in Tamil.
Amala Paul and Arya performed live on stage, while anchor Jagan provided humour by his oneliners ( Sample- Today in Chennai, two things are most in demand- It's Aavin Paal and Amala Paul !) and he had Ramya for company.
Amala mesmerised the audiences with her grace and confidence and later won over the crowd by mimicking her director Lingusamy. Arya, a guy who is an average dancer alsoshook a leg for a song from Vettai album.
Two songs and the trailer, which was racy were premiered for the audiences.
All the speakers Vishal and Karthi, Madhavan and Arya who have worked with him others praised Lingusamy who they said is a passionate film maker and his dedication is incomparable, which is why his success ratio is very high.
However Yuvan Shankar Raja the music director of Vettai preferred to maintain his soft-spoken image and he later said: “The expectations are high because of Paiyya and I'm sure this album will do well too. One of my favourite number in the album is 'Pappappa'. It’s probably the first time I have sung a folksy number”
The entire show was packaged well for almost two hours, till the proceedings turned mundane with the cliched routine of almost 30 speakers asked to make speeches and finally the audio was launched.
The programme will be telecast on Vijay TV shortly.
