Vijay Sethupathi was in the wrong news for his statement about Sabarimala issue and the Bhagavad Gita controversy. Now, the actor has hit the headlines on Valentine’s Day for accepting to launch the first look poster of a film titled ‘Kadala Poda Ponnu Venum’.
The makers advertised the film in a bad taste with posters stating ‘———- Poda Ponnu Venum’ and as Vijay Sethupathi's name was also associated in the promo materials, fans and the general public are pissed off with the actor.
Famous producer Dhananjayan posted the pics of the promotional posters of the film on Twitter and wrote: “இந்த மாதிரி பப்ளிசிட்டி பண்ணி ஒரு புதிய படத்தை புரோமோட் பண்றதுக்கு பதில், வேறு எதாவது தொழில் செய்யலாம். தமிழ் சினிமாவை கீழ் மட்டத்திற்கு கொண்டு செல்லும் முயற்சி. வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கிறேன்”. (Rough translation: Instead of following such crude techniques to promote the film, these people can do some other business. Such obscene promotions will bring down the reputation of Tamil films, I strongly condemn this).
Later, Vijay Sethupathi said that he doesn’t know that the makers would promote their film through such crass captions. “This film’s director had worked with me in a drama called ‘Pen’. He previously announced two films but due to various reasons, those projects dropped. So when he approached me to launch the title of his third film, I agreed but never knew about their promotional gimmicks. I’m now even thinking to stop launching first look posters of new films because of the existence of such people. What few people do for business is affecting several people, this indeed a sad situation. I just gave an earful to the director”, said Vijay Sethupathi.
The film’s director Anandaraj said that the poster was promoted from the hero’s side and Vijay Sethupathi is in no way associated with the idea.
