The Vishu- Easter season is considered to be the best time to release Malayalam films. It is regarded as one of the hottest times for movie releases, with the mid-summer vacations for schools.
This year, there are quite a number of films gearing up for release during the season. However films which were earlier due for release on April 4th have pushed their date to April 11th, as nobody wants to clash with election campaign in Kerala. All Vishu releases have now been pushed to April 11, as polling takes place in Kerala on April 10.
These are some of the films which are planned as Vishu-Easter Releases :
Gangster: Director Aashiq Abu’s film with Mammootty as the hero has Nyla Usha and Aparna Gopinath as the heroines. The superstar looks dapper and Aashiq hopes to make a comeback after some not-so-great outings like Da Thadiya, Gauri in the 5 Sundarikal anthology and Idukki Gold. The film is scheduled for release on April 11.
Ring Master: Dileep’s strength has always been his popularity with the kids and families. And all his Vishu films in the past have done well at the box-office. Keerthi Suresh and Honey Rose are the heroines in this entertainer. The film is releasing on April 11.
Seventh Day: Prithviraj will be seen as a 42-year-old cop in debutant Shyam Dhar’s thriller. Janani Iyer is in the female lead. Prithviraj needs a hit badly, and this thriller is the ideal film for him this summer. The film is scheduled for release on April 12.
There are a few other films, which could follow the big ones if they get the screens. Kunchacko Boban starrer Poly Technic, Vinil Vasu’s The Last Supper, Arun Kumar Aravind’s 1 by Two and the Jayasurya film Seconds are all in the pipeline.
