Remember the kind of trouble that Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam underwent last January prior to its release?
The Tamil Nadu government banned its release, following protest from Muslim organisations. Subsequently the film was released in the state after objectionable scenes were removed.
Now the latest we hear is that Vishwaroopam 2 is under the scanner. V2 is getting ready for release later this year and already a controversy is brewing. Jawahar Ali, the leader of the Tamilnadu Muslim League is already sceptical about the sequel.
In an interview Ali said: “Our sources have indicated Vishwaroopam 2 has scenes that portray Muslims as terrorists and also has scenes that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. My request to Kamal Haasan is not to portray the Muslim community in bad light in the name of freedom of expression.”
