Kamal Haasan’s eagerly awaited Vishwaroopam which was to release this Friday (January 25), has been banned for 15 days in Tamil Nadu! The Tamil Nadu government citing ‘law and order’ reasons suspended its screening by a fortnight.
The ban on screening came after some Muslim organisations alleged that the film portrayed their religion in bad light. The police on Wednesday arrested Indian National League activists after they marched to Kamal’s office in Alwarpet.
Kamal’s brother Chandrahasan visited Chennai city police commissioner’s office. Kamal is away in Los Angeles for the world premiere of the film, but is now expected to rush back to Chennai.
The advance booking for Vishwaroopam was phenomenal, as the movie was scheduled to release in 400 plus screens in Tamil Nadu on Friday January 25.
It would have taken one of the biggest ever openings, considering the hype surrounding the film.
