No aspect of fashion escapes the sharp eye of "Vogue" queen Anna Wintour, including David Letterman's socks.
Wintour, taping an appearance for Letterman's "Late Show" on Monday, singled them out as "interesting." Letterman, who called himself a "dope" who doesn't know anything about fashion, flashed a view of his gray stockings and invited Wintour to "take a look at those, honey."
The Vogue editor made light of her image as imperious and tough at work, but acknowledged that she can be direct with her magazine staff.
Wintour, making her first appearance on CBS' "Late Show," is featured in the new documentary "The September Issue," about production of the 2007 issue that was the biggest in Vogue's more than 100-year history.
