The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has issued a strongly worded post against the decision of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) to take the dismissed member, actor Dileep.
Dileep was dismissed from AMMA, where he was treasurer, after the actor was arrested in connection with his alleged involvement in the actress molestation case.
WCC has raised certain questions about the AMMA decision.
1.Why did AMMA dismiss Dileep?
2.How has the situation changed now that AMMA has decided to revoke the earlier action?
3.You don’t feel anything abnormal about taking back a person who has been charged with involvement in a crime similar to rape?
4.Isn’t the actress who survived the attack also a member of your organization?
5.Isn’t the current decision done to embarrass the victim once again?
6.As a democratic body, what message is the organization giving to the Kerala society?
7.Isn’t this decision an open challenge to the existing law and justice system in the country?
AMMA had taken the decision to take Dileep back into their fold in their Annual General Body held in Kochi on Jun 24.
