…this is how Ashutosh offered Ash 'Jodha-Akbar'.
Ever noticed, Aishwarya is always a tad bit partial to scripts and characters that are ingrained in Indian values and ethos. Be it Bhansali's extravaganza, Devdas or Ritu's Chokher Bali from the bygone era, the actress has her loyalties there. She has also signaled Rajkumar's ambitious venture, 'Prithviraj-Samyukta' as well as J P Dutta's biopic on Maharani Gayatri Devi.
So when Ashutosh Gowarikar thought of the epic 'Jodha-Akbar' for this forthcoming film, he didn't have to try too hard. All he had to do was to dash across an SMS to Ash, 'Will U B My Jodha?' Pat came the reply, 'Yes, I will' accompanied by a smiley. So if Ash is all set to play the defiant and volatile Jodha, Hrithik will be seen playing 'Akbar'. The only time the two were seen together was in a Coke commercial. Now that Ashutosh has managed the coup, the awesome twosome will also be seen in Yashraj's Dhoom II.
Backtracking to 'Jodha-Akbar', cynics are already rolling eyes at the spate of epics & historical that Ash has under her wing, hinting that such a bulk signup could hurt her performance. Aishwarya not being the one to be perturbed, retorts, “What is this spate that people are talking about? I agree that they have similar ambience as they are drawn from history. But that's where the sameness ends. Every single film I am doing has a unique story to tell and the looks are just as distinct. I know my films better than anybody else, think media should respect that” she volleys back.
