Ten Indians are reported to have been taken hostage as an Italian cargo ship was hijacked by Somalian pirates on Monday, media reports said.
The ship named MV Montecsristo consisted of 23 crew members that included ten Indians.
The ship was hijacked by the pirates at some 620 nautical miles east of the Somali coast, media reports said.
The Italian-owned ship was carrying cargo of scrap iron from Liverpool to Vietnam.
In the past couple of years the activities of Pirates along the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.
The Gulf of Aden is a significant sea-route that connect Asia and Europe. It is located between Somalia and Yemen.
