10 killed in Peshawar suicide blast

Peshawar: At least 10 people were killed and 30 injured on Friday morning in a powerful suicide bombing outside a Pakistani intelligence agency office in this northwestern city, an official said.

Inspector General of Police Malik Naveed said it was a suicide blast in which 10 people, including security personnel, were killed and more than 30 were wounded, Geo News reported.

The suicide bomber, who was travelling in a car, was trying to reach the intelligence agency's office located at Kyber Road.

The bomber blew himself up when he was stopped at a security check post.

The massive explosion, which was heard throughout the city, almost completely destroyed the building.

The injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital and Combined Military Hospital.

Pakistan has been hit by a spate of terror attacks, including massive bombings. Over 200 people have been killed in the latest wave of attacks that began Oct 5.

The army has stepped up its assault in South Waziristan against the Taliban, which has vowed to retaliate against US drone attacks.
