8. Rahul Gandhi: This should have been the year of Congress heir apparent Rahul Gandhi. The UPA faced its severest crisis yet and Rahul should have taken them out of it. But he looked woefully out of touch with the masses.
During the Anna Hazare August Kranti, he seemed too behind the scenes and not pro-active enough. When he spoke in Parliament, he made no impact. During his tour of Uttar Pradesh, his supporters kicked protestors in front of TV cameras and one of his leaders was even booed at a rally.
By the end of 2011 he was speaking so much that most had stopped listening to him.
