9. Aadhar: Maybe it was too ambitious in the first place. No developing country has attempted something on this grand scale and India is still way behind despite our liberalization!
The Unique Identification Authority of India was facing enough problems, like those related to privacy issues, escalating costs, reliability and duplication. Then towards the end of the year, the bill related to Aadhar was shot down by a parliamentary committee.
Its future is in serious doubt.
