A Delhi court on Friday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s plea to summon Reliance ADA Group Chairman Anil Ambani, his wife Tina Ambani and 11 others as prosecution witness in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
"The CBI in its plea said that the Reliance ADA Group Chairman´s testimony is needed to explain why Reliance invested over Rs 900 crore in Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd, facing trial in the case along with its promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka," CNN-IBN reported.
The court on July 17 reserved its order on CBI´s plea over summoning leading Indian businessman Anil Ambani and others in connection with the case.
In perhaps the biggest scam in independent India, allegedly masterminded by former telecom minister A Raja, spectrum was given away at throwaway prices in 2008 causing a potential revenue loss of up to Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
While Raja, a number of government and private sector officials and firms face trial, a landmark judgement by the Supreme Court last year had quashed 122 licenses issued under the sale.
