Former lobbyist Niira Radia, who is a prosecution witness in the 2G spectrum case, is unwell and might not appear before a Delhi court to depose before it in connection to the matter this week, media reports said on Wednesday.

According to reports, Radia, who recently underwent a surgery, has sought exemption from hearing on medical grounds.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier submitted a list to the Special CBI court that included the names of prosecution witnesses who will be called for recording statement.

Radia´s name is present in the list.

The leaked taped conversations of Radia with Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata and other influential people, including the ex-telecom minister A Raja who is accused of masterminding the 2G spectrum allocation scam, had rattled the nation.

In perhaps the biggest scam in Independent India, allegedly masterminded by Raja, telecoms spectrum was given away at throwaway prices in 2008 causing a potential revenue loss of up to Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
