Of the five dead, bodies of four persons were brought to Mana post of ITBP near Badrinath temple town while one still lay at Ghastoli post of the force because the route to Mana was closed following a landslide.
The rescued foreigners were brought to Mana and given first aid, food and warm clothing.
In the midst of continuous heavy snowfall, extremely cold climate and low visibility, the members of the trekking team, led by prominent historian Shekhar Pathak, who specialises in Himalayan history, got scattered and lost sense of direction.
