Sikhs across the world are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib in the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. But, the original manuscript, which was compiled and installed at the Golden Temple by fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev, is not for the Sikhs to see and pay obeisance to. It is the private property of the Sodhi family of Kartarpur in Punjab who guard it zealously. Access to the holy book is restricted to a select few just once a year and that too from a safe distance.
