Beijing: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Xigaze prefecture of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region early on Sunday morning, a report said.

The report said that the epicenter of the earthquake was detected at 29.4 degrees north latitude and 86.1 degrees east longitude, with a depth of about 33 km.
