For fifty years now the Amul girl has been making puns and encouraging us to try out Amul's "utterly butterly delicious" butter.
In those fifty years, several hundred campaigns have been released, each one a commentary about the social, economic or political situation at the time.
These cartoons have now become iconic and treasured part of Indian culture, despite (or perhaps because of) the cartoons often containing very critical comments about the various people and situations.
Considering all the woes that affect India now - economy to corruption, we had a look at the cartoons from long ago and found the cliche to be true - the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Here are five themes that seemed to have not changed a bit since the 1970s.
