Mumbai, June 21 (IBNS) At least six people were killed and over 14 others were injured after a three-storey building collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane district early Friday, said police.
The Shakuntala building in Mumbra suburb of Thane collapsed around 2:30 am, said the police.
Eight fire engines were rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
"Six bodies have been recovered so far, but the death toll may rise. Rescue operations are underway. We fear about 10 more people are trapped under the debris," said a fire official.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials have also reached the site.
Earlier on June 10, a five-storey residential building in the Mahim area of Mumbai collapsed following heavy rains. Seven people were killed in the accident.
