Jammu:A total of 86 displaced Kashmiri pandits will be able to exercise their right of franchise in the first phase of polling to be held tomorrow for two Assembly segments of Bandipora district in the state, an official said here today.
"Only 86 people have submitted their forms to exercise their right of franchise for the two constituencies of Bandipora district," Relief Commissioner Vinood Kaul said.
Nine special elections booths have been made for them, he said.
Stage set for J&K pollsThe All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), the All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) and the Jammu and Kashmir National Democratic United Front (JKNDUF), however, alleged that there were over 2,000 voters in the district, most of whom have been deleted from the electoral list.
"There were over 300 Kashmiri migrant votes in Kalusa village alone. But all of them have been deleted from the list," they alleged.
According to the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (DCEO), a total of 72,713 displaced pandits would directly vote through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at 14 different polling stations across the country.

"Polling stations have been set up in New Delhi (4), Udhampur and Jammu districts of the state, where they would directly vote through EVMs apart from the postal ballot paper facility being made available to them", DCEO Harcharan Singh said.
