Chandigarh: Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance was set to create history Tuesday as it inched towards power, stunning the Congress. By Tuesday afternoon, the Akali Dal-BJP combine had won 19 seats to the 12 of Congress. The ruling coalition's candidates also led in 46 seats in contrast to the 37 leads of the Congress. Three of the total 117 seats appeared to be going to smaller groups and independents.
