Indian-Americans not knowing their rights because of being not organised is a thing of the past now. Post-September 11 the Indian community has realised the need to actively involve themselves in the policy-making process. To start with the Sikh Coalition now has two bills pending in the New York city council ÃÂ one would allow city employees to wear turbans and the other would make officials craft plans to prevent hate crimes.
