The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for the four laning with Paved Shoulders (PSS) of the Jabalpur-Bhopal section of National Highway-12 in Haryana under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III, on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis in Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) (Toll) mode of delivery.
The cost is estimated to be Rs.2686.91 crore including the cost of Rs.200.95 crore towards the cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of road will be 294.21 kms.
The project will expedite improvement of infrastructure in the state of Madhya Pradesh and also reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying on NH-12 between Jabalpur and Bhopal. It will also increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities.
The project covers the districts of Bhopal and Jabalpur. The main townships on the project highway are Bhopal, Obedullahganj, Goharganj, Bari, Bareli, Khargone and Jabalpur. (ANI)
