A painter and social worker, Manan Chaturvedi, living in Jaipur, has created a record by painting for 72 hours at a stretch.

An accomplished artist in hand painting, Chaturvedi began her stint on December 30 and hoped to complete it on January 1.

Chaturvedi decided to paint for 72 hours, which coincides with the number of girls in an orphanage, which she runs.

"Right now, I have 82 children, out of which 72 are girls. So, I decided to do it for 72 hours, which is three days and three nights continuously, for the children, attentively, while standing in front of the canvas," said Chaturvedi.

Most of the paintings made by her in the last few hours depict picturesque sceneries and young children surrounded by lush backdrop of nature.

For Chaturvedi, most of these paintings give out a message of hope and peace, which today may have seemed lost in the midst of disturbing news like the recent brutal gang rape in New Delhi.

"I feel there is a huge lack of positivity in today's world. People don't want to think positively, be they of any age group. So we should move forward with love, belief and determination for the sake of humanity and love. It will be a great start for the new year," she said.

So far, Chaturvedi has painted about 115 canvases using her bare hands and hopes to reach a target of about 150 paintings. (ANI)
