The Assam Rifles not only helps maintain peace and security in the northeast, but is actively involved in community-based services. Recently, the 24 Assam Rifles donated solar lamps and furniture to the needy in Manipur.
In a goodwill gesture, the 24 Assam Rifles recently distributed solar street lamps to villagers of Kwatha Khunou, a remote village in Tengnoupal Tehsil of Manipur's Chandel District.
Stationery and furniture items were also gifted to the government primary school of Laibi village to help improve education standards in the area.
"All these activities we do, distribution of solar lamps, distribution of furniture and construction of community halls, It is a gesture which helps the community at large, so it will always be our endeavour to work for the people all the time," said Brigadier Rajiv Mankotia VSM, 26 Sector Assam Rifles.
"I am so happy to get this solar lamp. In this village, Assam Rifle has given us a gift for the first time. I really appreciate their concern for us," said TH. Medar, a villager.
The event was attended by a large number of people, including women and children. Assam Rifles has been operating in the northeast and is responsible for maintaining security and flushing out insurgents.
However, the community service carried out by the force is highly commendable. (ANI)
