New Delhi: Another BJP leader has stressed on the importance of a "lakshman Rekha" for both men and women following the comments by Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on rape and questioned the role of bikini-clad women in car advertisements.
Speaking on a show on CNN IBN news channel, BJP's Sheshadri Chari said both men and women needed to observe the "lakshman rekha".
Chari said the "lakshman rekha" for men would be treating women as equals.
"If you want to sell a BMW, obviously the BMW has to be strategically placed between two bikini-clad women, so that the people don't notice the BMW, but the women," he said.
The other panelists on the show slammed the comment. A female panelist on the show said she had faced sexual harassment on the roads when she was wearing salwaar-kameez.
Earlier, BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya had said that women who crossed moral limits pay the price for it. Later, he retracted his statement when the BJP distanced itself from his comments.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's comment that crimes such as rape "hardly take place in Bharat, but they occur frequently in India" has also caused a furore.
