New Delhi: BJP leaders will meet on Monday evening to decide if the suspended Ram Jethmalani should be expelled from the party.
A meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board has been convened at 4.30pm to take a call on his expulsion, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
On Sunday, the party suspended the 86-year-old lawyer-turned-politician after he had taken on the party over the issue of the appointment of the new CBI chief, writing a letter to BJP president Nitin Gadkari and saying the government's decision had averted a "national calamity".
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Jethmalani's statement was in favour of Congress...party sees Jethmalani's letter on new CBI director as indiscipline."
However, Jethmalani has said that he does not care about his suspension.
"I don't care about the decision to suspend me taken by the party president," a report quoted the Rajya Sabha MP as saying.
