Mamata in Manipur: meets Irom, slams AFPSA

Kolkata: The BJP on Thursday urged West Bengal Governor M K Narayanan to impress upon the Mamata Banerjee government to restore law and order, discard its attitude towards suicide by farmers and redress the grievances of transport department employees.

"We refer to you the issues of law and order situation, distress of and suicide by farmers and disruption of transport network in the state," a BJP delegation said in a memorandum to the Governor.

Expressing apprehension that violence would break out in the wake of killing of former MLA Pradip Tah and another CPI(M) leader in Burdwan town, the memorandum alleged that provocative statements by Trinamool leaders had led to the incident.

The memorandum said "we are taking this opportunity to request you to prevail upon the state government to remedy the state of affairs."
