A crack on ancient civilisation
The Unfinished Obelisk is a prime example of a Pharaoh-funded stuff up involving a 1,000 tonne rock carved into the ground. The Obelisk is located near Aswan, towards the southern part of Egypt.
The Obelisk was almost complete and had been painfully carved out of the quarry as another heavy monument before a large crack appeared, causing these ancient civilisation stone cutters a lot of grief before it was finally abandoned.
The Obelisk is still attached to the bedrock!
If it had been finished, it would have been around 40 metres long and weighed about 1200 tonnes.
