Piyush Bobby Jindal created history when he was elected as Governor of the US state, Lousiana on Saturday, October 20, 2007. A conservative Republican from New Orleans, 36-year-old Bobby Jindal is the only Indian American to have found a place in the US Congress after Dalip Singh Saund, a democrat from California in 1956.
His success, a 78% of vote in his district race against Democrat Roy Armstrong, is seen as a sign of the coming of age of America`s Indian community.
The first non-white governor of Louisiana since Reconstruction, Bobby will take his oath on January 14, 2008.
