New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested the brother of the girl who was molested on a bus on Saturday night by a conductor after it was found that the girl was earlier serially sexually assaulted by her brother and had been receiving counselling.
The 16-year-old girl in her complaint to police said she was subjected to the sexual assault by her brother from long, reports said on Monday.
Social workers told a TV channel that she and her brother were counselled earlier and the brother, three years older to her, had agreed to stop sexually abusing his sister apparently.
The night she was molested on a bus she had actually come out of home after a dispute over her continued harassment at home.
She was rescued by police later after molestation by the bus conductor.
Police arrested the conductor of the government bus in Delhi after he allegedly molested the teenaged passenger, even as protests roil the capital city over the death of the 23-year-old victim of the brutal gang-rape on a bus.
The off-duty conductor molested the 16-year-old girl on a DTC cluster bus that was plying between Khayala to Lajpat Nagar on Saturday night.
The driver and another conductor of the bus purportedly did not intervene.
All three men were suspended from duty while the offending off-duty conductor was arrested by police.
Police patrolling near Mandi House arrested the accused, Ranjeet Singh, after they spotted the girl crying on the bus.
When police officers asked her the reason, she complained that an off-duty conductor sitting in the bus first passed lewd comments on her and when she protested, assaulted her.
The girl had apparently left her home at around 9:30 pm after a disagreement with her family and was molested around 11 pm.
