To mark the victory of good over evil, an effigy of demon king Ravana is set on fire during the festive season of Dusshera every year.
How such an act of arson can purge all evil is quite incomprehensible to me. However, the aam aadmi
seems to be very taken by the idea.
Effigy makers all over the country make larger-than-life versions of the demon king with ten heads which tower over the masses during the festival. Fireworks go off in the background, adding to the pomp and show.
