After being denied the CM's office twice, Haridwar's Member of Parliament and veteran Uttarakhand Congress leader Harish Rawat on Sunday finally got his due. Rawat was promoted from Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and assigned new responsibility of Union Water Resources Minister.
Harish has joined the selected list of leaders from Uttarakhand to become cabinet minister in the centre.
After being appointed in the cabinet, Rawat said the reshuffle was being done keeping in mind the 2014 parliamentary elections.
"The reshuffle will definitely have a good impact because such exercises are conducted after a long thought process and various permutations and combinations are kept in mind. The responsibility and challenges of elections cannot be undermined, also the responsibility to carry forward the work of the Prime Minister," said Rawat.
