On November 10, Portugal’s top constitutional court allowed India to extradite Abu Salem, but with a rider: he must not be given the death sentence if he is convicted in the Mumbai blasts case. Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi arrived in Mumbai the following morning under tight security. Salem has been charged under TADA and will be in CBI custody till November 23. In the meantime, Bedi was flown to Hyderabad on Friday night on a transit remand and was grilled by CBI sleuths in connection with a passport forgery case.
