The Congress party on Monday took potshots at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over current political crisis in Jharkhand and alleged that the latter's politics has hindered the development in the state.

While talking to reporters here, Congress spokesperson and party-in-charge of Jharkhand, Shakeel Ahmed said that the BJP had just won 18 seats in the state assembly elections and formed government with the political opponents on some agreements, but cheated their partners.

"If congress wanted a back door entry, we would have been in power by now. The Governor had discussed with all parties and he will take a decision in this regard very soon. I have come here following the death of one of our district secretary, but I will also meet the hem," said Ahmed.

"We are waiting for the Governor's decision. It is his duty to initiate the process to form a new government," he added.

The JMM, which pulled out of Arjun Munda-led coalition government in Jharkhand last week, has so far expressed its willingness to form a new government in the state with the help of Congress.

According to certain media reports, Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmad is likely to recommend a President"s rule in the state with neither the Congress nor the JMM having the numbers to form the next government on their own.

The JMM has 18 members in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly and the Congress 13. (ANI)
